After a day of big, red, bouncing fun on the streets, Santa likes nothing better than a night of big, red, bouncing fun in the Grotto! This year we’re sharing Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes with the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club, which should make for a top SOUNDCLASH.

Santa’s special guests are eight-piece brass functionin’ funksters the No Limits Street Band. Here’s them giving it some brass outdoors at the Olympic Village:

No Limits Street Band tell us they expect audience participation, so BRING YOUR CAROL SHEETS. We’ll also be having a DJ set from our own Ghetto Santa, spinnin’ the sickest Christmas tunes you’ll ever hear.

Meanwhile, the Funk and Soul Club will be featuring Jack Charles (live funk band) and DJs Sir Funk, Mary-Go-Round and Otis Waby. They will be no match for Santa.

The venue is a proper club with bouncers on the door, so the usual rules apply:

• Santa’s who have had one too many sherries won’t get in.
• Strictly no drugs. Bags will be searched.
• Don’t bring alcohol. The bouncers will confiscate it or not let you in.

If you know you’ll have a big sack of stuff with you — a tent and sleeping bag or something — it might be wise to phone Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes in advance and check they will be happy to store it in the cloakroom.

We are now facing an armageddonesque December 2012, the year of our Disco-tent. The world as we know it is set to end shortly after 15 December, so the best thing we can do is go out with a BIG PARTY!

If annihilation comes as bad news, fear not, there is good news too. This year’s afterparty will not be in a tent. Santa was only joking. Instead, it will once again be at our favourite Bloomsbury Grotto on Bedford Way, and we expect tickets to go on sale as soon as the elves get back from gathering mushrooms and taking the piss out of the reindeer.

WONDERS WILL NEVER CEASE! Well actually they will, quite possibly on the 21 December when the Sun gets switched off. But until then we have the afterparty, and we’ve roped in something big, loud and brassy that had the crowds at the Olympic village cheering and singing, as well as a famous name (not as famous as Bluebeard Santa, obvisously) to groove us with xmas funk.

For Santas looking for hotels and reindeer parking spaces, the Bloomsbury Grotto is underneath the Tavistock Hotel WC1, with the actual bunker–sorry GROTTO–entrance a short way down on Bedford Way.

But pay heed young Santae, tickets this year will be sold IN ADVANCE ONLY, so stand by with your bit of plastic for the announcement. Not all santas will be saved–sorry I meant be able to get in. There is only space for 144,000 chosen Santae in the Grotto, so rally your fellow bearded ones and stand by to get tickets, or else you’ll be wailing and gnashing your teeth with the goddamned elves.

Start Santacon with a trip to the cinema! Bad Santa is showing at Prince Charles cinema, Leicester Square, on 15 December 10:30am (doors open at 10am). What do we do?

• We romp around central London
• We give stuff out
• We do performance art
• We hug strangers
• We wear santa costumes with a spin
• We sing alternative carols
• We might visit a few pubs along the way.
• And then we have a massive party and dance our socks off.
